UNESCO world heritage sites- Ancient Ruins of civilizations are present in Dholavira and Lothal, Rani ni Vav (Queen's step-well) was constructed in the 11th century as a memorial to King Bhimdev I, Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, the city of Dwarka is regarded as the abode of Lord Krishna, the Sun Temple is an architectural feat of the 11th century, Mahabat Maqbara which is a fusion of Gothic and Indo-Islamic influences, and the Laxmi Vilas Palace serves as an official residence of the royal family of Vadodara, the Gaekwads. UNESCO has notified Ahmedabad as a world heritage city in the year 2017.
In recent times, the state has created some modern wonders for the world to see, like the “Statue of Unity”, standing tall at 182m on the banks of river Narmada. It is the tallest statue in the world signifying the efforts and the strong will of the Iron man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU), formerly known as Baroda College, is a public university in the city of Vadodara.
